After UOSA has received and reviewed an Industrial User Survey, UOSA may require additional information to determine the need for an Industrial Pretreatment Discharge Permit.
To make this determination, UOSA requests that the commercial or industrial user fill out a Pretreatment Permit Application. Click the tab on the right labelled “UOSA Permit Application” to access the permit application form.
Following receipt of a complete application, UOSA will look at the Local Sewer Ordinance, State and Federal regulations, Pretreatment Category Standards, Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Codes, UOSA’s Local Limits, water use records, and other Pollutants of Concern to determine if an industry is required to have a permit to discharge to UOSA. Permit applications may also help to inform UOSA on how to design permit conditions, restrictions, monitoring, and non-compliance steps.
A pdf to the list of Pollutants of Concern be found on the tab on the right under “Pollutants of Concern”. Links to the EPA website for Categorical Pretreatment Standards and Categorical Effluent Guidelines can be found by clicking the tabs on the right for “Categorical Pretreatment Standards” and “Categorical Effluent Guidelines”.
Discharges from industries or commercial entities may not always require a permit; some may require authorization or other formal documentation. If an entity does not qualify for a permit but does qualify for a discharge authorization, or zero-discharge certification, UOSA will notify that entity of those options.
