Since 1978, UOSA has quietly returned clean water to the Occoquan Reservoir.
Over the last nearly 50 years, Northern Virgina has grown and evolved, and so has UOSA.
Today we’re introducing UOSA’s new brand: Renewing Water. Sustaining Life.
An identity fit for an organization bold enough to start recycling water before most people knew that was possible.
Why Now?
We’ve spent five decades doing this work well and saying very little about it. That made sense for a long time. It makes less sense now. As the world has become increasingly more digital and brand centric, it was time for UOSA to meet the moment.
What the Tagline Means
Renewing Water. We don’t just treat wastewater, we purify it to a standard that allows it to be reused and repurposed — a practice called water recycling.
Sustaining Life. Renewed water supports the regional drinking water supply, the environment, and recreation within the Occoquan Reservoir watershed, and the growth of the surrounding communities.

What the Logo Means
Our mark carries the story in five parts:
- The circle around the droplet represents water recycling and the protection of our region’s water resources.
- The water droplet speaks to UOSA as a trusted steward of our most precious resource.
- Bright blue represents indirect potable reuse — a nod to the water quality of the effluent that we return to the watershed.
- Deep blue represents all water.
- Streamlined, modern type reflects our focus on leadership and innovation.

What isn’t changing
The name. The mission. The standard. We are the same authority, doing the same work, with the same people. What’s new is how we show up.
